The Winser report: Battery storage could mitigate the cost of grid infrastructure

Alt text coming shortly

The Winser report, published earlier in August, focused on recommendations for accelerating the rollout of electricity transmission infrastructure, crucial to moving electricity sources to where it is most needed.

Perhaps a key omission from the report was energy storage. Battery energy storage in particular is expected to be a crucial aspect of the energy transition by capturing intermittent renewable energy generation from wind and solar, for example, to be distributed at times of high demands or when generation is low.
