The government has declared ‘a golden age of nuclear’ with Sizewell C receiving £14.2bn in state funding and Rolls-Royce SMR being selected to build the country’s first small modular reactors.

Located alongside EDF’s Sizewell B power station, the 3.2GW Sizewell C plant will support 70,000 jobs, including 7,900 in Suffolk.

Once online, EDF said 900 staff will operate the plant, which is expected to generate electricity for at least 60 years.
