Open consultation – Transitional support mechanism for large-scale biomass electricity generators

Alt text coming shortly

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is consulting on potential transitional support arrangements to support large-scale biomass electricity generators in their planned move to power bioenergy carbon capture and storage (power BECCS).

Power BECCS has the potential to deliver a significant volume of carbon removals that can make an important contribution to their net zero ambitions. The proposed transitional arrangements will also support the UK’s energy security.

They are seeking views on the transitional support arrangements in principle, and how any such potential support might be designed. They have published an impact assessment alongside the consultation.
