Grid starts to connect biggest battery factory

National Grid has started work on connecting the UK’s biggest ever battery facility.
Run by Tata Group’s global battery business Agratas, a 40GW facility, at the 620-acre Gravity Smart Campus near Bridgwater, Somerset, is due to open in 2026, creating 4,000 highly skilled green tech jobs, and aims to supply almost half of the batteries needed by the UK’s automotive industry by the early 2030s.
