The development consent order (DCO) for National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET’s) 2GW Sea Link subsea cable project has been approved by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (Desnz). The project would connect Pegwell Bay in Kent to the Suffolk coast between Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, spanning approximately 138km and is designed to reduce pressure on existing grid connections.
The initiative is part of the larger Great Grid Upgrade initiative, responding to an anticipated doubling of energy demand in the UK.
