The UK’s small modular reactor plans are poised to transform domestic energy supply whilst creating a lucrative new export opportunity for British industry.
Whilst the UK nuclear energy industry is no stranger to hyped-up new dawns, it’s hard to remember a time when there was so much genuine positivity around.
With construction underway on two giant new reactors – Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C – and momentum growing behind the UK’s burgeoning small modular reactor (SMR) programme, it seems as though talk of a new a new golden age for the sector may – for once – not be too wide of the mark.
