Coating shows promise for perovskite solar in space
Tuesday 05 Aug 2025
Lighter, cheaper and more efficient solar power for satellites and spacecraft could be possible with a new coating for perovskite solar cells developed by engineers at Surrey University.
Perovskite solar cells are a next-generation solar technology that can be made more easily and last longer than traditional panels, but are vulnerable in space to proton irradiation that can damage organic components within the cell.
