Britons to lose out – Labour scrapping £28bn green pledge

According to a report in the Guardian, business experts and green campaigners have said that Britons are likely to be worse off if the next government fails to invest in a green economy. Dr Anupama Sen is head of policy engagement at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford. She commented that it was “…disappointing to see the Labour party water down [its] flagship policy due to short-term political pressures”, noting that “other countries [were] racing to prepare their economies for the imminent green energy transition.” She argued that the this level of investment “…would reduce our emissions and shield against increasingly volatile energy prices to give us genuine energy security.”
