Solid state battery use is the most promising development in solving the problems of driving range on a single charge, and the fire risk of the lithium-ion batteries currently being used.

Forecasts are being brought forward for the take up of solid state batteries which were previously dismissed as too expensive and difficult to produce. Predictions state that solid state batteries could take more that 10 percent of the global market by 2030.
