10 cutting-edge innovations redefining energy storage solutions
Thursday 31 Jul 2025
From iron-air batteries to molten salt storage, a new wave of energy storage innovation is unlocking long-duration, low-cost resilience for tomorrow’s grid.
As the global energy transition accelerates, the need for reliable, scalable and cost-effective energy storage solutions has never been greater.
Stationary energy storage technologies broadly fall into three categories: electro-chemical storage, namely batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen storage; electro-mechanical storage, such as compressed air storage, flywheel storage and gravitational storage; and thermal storage, including sensible, latent and thermochemical storage.
