On Tuesday 19 September 2023 (09:30 – 17:00), we will be hosting an open, in-person innovation forum at the King’s Centre in Oxford. The day will start with a SSEN-hosted in-person tour, visiting elements of Project LEO and TRANSITION across Osney Island. This will be followed by presentations on similar, flexibility-focused innovation projects from other distribution networks. Please find the agenda here.

Project LEO (Local Energy Oxfordshire) has been one of the UK’s most ambitious, wide-ranging, and innovative energy trials, seeking to accelerate the UK’s transition to a zero-carbon energy system. LEO was the £40m, flagship project for Innovate UK, from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) as part of the Prospering from the Energy Revolution Programme (PFER). The project started in April 2019, with nine project partners from across academia, industry, councils and community groups, the project was completed in March 2023. Join us on Tuesday 19th September and hear from project partners on LEO’s key learnings from 4 years of developing new technologies and services at the “edge” of the network- closest to the point where people are using energy.
