FutureWind and Marine Conference

The FutureWind & Marine conference will serve as a platform for sharing the latest developments and insights from the WAMESS CDT students (Wind and Marine Energy Systems and Structures Centre for Doctoral Training). Alongside this, industry experts will deliver talks providing valuable perspectives on industry trends and advancements.

Research interests cover offshore renewables from a range of different disciplines. This event will provide a great opportunity for collaboration and discussion between early stage researchers and industry professionals within the offshore renewables field.

The headline sponsor this year is the geo-data specialist Fugro, who are a key industry partner in the WAMESS CDT and sponsor many  Oxford students as well as providing technical insight. Fugro is the world’s leading Geo-data specialist. They give Geo-data insights and expertise to wind farm operators to plan, design, build, operate and maintain a successful project. Fugro will be providing the opening talk of the conference on their work within the offshore renewables sector.

The keynote address will be given by the winner of the 2024 Queen Elizabeth Prize in Engineering, Professor Andrew Garrad CBE FREng. Professor Garrad is a pioneer of the wind industry, having cofounded GH consultancy as well as developed the Bladed design tool. He is a visiting professor in Engineering Mathematics at the University of Bristol. Professor Garrad will provide a conclusion to the conference.
