Digitalisation is one of the high-level trends that will significantly impact future energy demand and carbon emissions, whilst creating social challenges and opportunities. Drawing on work within CREDS and by leading European researchers, this seminar will examine how pathways for digitalisation in energy and mobility could be directed towards reducing energy demand and enhancing social justice.

Steffen Lange and Tilman Santarius will introduce their report, the Digital Reset: Redirecting Technologies for the Deep Sustainability Transformation report. Tim Foxon and Noam Bergman will then discuss their CREDS research on the drivers and effects of digitalisation on energy demand in low carbon scenarios. Tim Schwanen and Debbie Hopkins will finish by presenting their work the expectations of the benefits of automated vehicles.

Siddharth Sareen (University of Stavanger), himself a leading researcher in this area will chair the event, which will end with an opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
