Carbon Innovation Programme

On 18 October 2016 the University launched the first Carbon Innovation Programme to support its carbon reduction target of 33% by 2021 (against a 2005/6 baseline). Since then the programme has won awards and seen over 100 staff and students getting involved in carbon reduction.

The Carbon Innovation Programme is an exciting opportunity for staff and students to develop and propose ideas for reducing building energy use and associated carbon emissions (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) across the University functional estate.

If projects are viable the Environmental Sustainability team will commit to input time and resource into implementing the project. Project teams will be welcome to continue their work on the projects with the Carbon Reduction Project Manager and successful project teams may be awarded a Carbon Innovator Award at the Sustainability Showcase Awards Evening.

This is a unique opportunity to receive training and support from industry and academic experts, to work on real-life scenarios and projects which will provide transferable skills and boost your CV. Individuals who present successful projects may have the opportunity to discuss career opportunities with the programme sponsors Siemens and Hoare Lea.

How to get started:

The Carbon Innovation Programme will come back in October 2017 as the new and improved Sustainability Innovation Programme.

This will give participants the opportunity to look at a more diverse range of opportunities on the estate.

The Carbon Innovation Programme is the

ISCN Innovative Collaboration Award Winner for 2016.
